Beautiful tone on the guitar. Nice harmonics. Great chords. Totally individual player. If you don't think it is happening, try to play it! Cecil Taylor said,"Derek is a wonderful guitarist." I am pretty sure Cecil knows more about music, than you ever will. How did you ever stumble upon this video any way, a "guitar player" magazine article? Your not ready for this music! i have to say, in response to the conversation about why anyone likes this music, that it is music. and musical taste is opinion. i listen to this music, and i play improvised music because i enjoy it. i agree that you have to have an ear for this, but you do for any kind of music. you may think that it's difficult to listen to, but i think most of the shit that's on the radio and tv is difficult to listen to. it's just music, don't have a heartattack.

Whatever. I find it much better than some old fart playing shit that people find amazing because they want to be different. What Bailey shows can easily be represented in a much more interesting way. Not this at all. IM not going to respond to your next comment. I believe that I won.

To quote "Popular music is not Dream theater" It doesn't mean it has fans- it means it is in the blanket category of popular music. Dream Theater is bad because of John Petrucci. His guitar playing is technically magnificent but it also a wankfest.
