I would LOVE Seal to do a remake of this.

It's such a beautiful song - a classic, one of my favourite songs of all time.

This reminds me so much of my father, who died in 1994. My father taught me guitar chords when I was almost too small to even hold a guitar. The strings hurt my fingers, and I struggled so much to hold them down next to the frets. We used to watch the Glen Campbell show together. I will never be able to hear this song without shedding a tear. Jimmy Webb was an amazing songwriter. Thank you for posting this. It never fails to move me. (A REPEAT POST, DUE TO A STALKER)

Outstanding song. Glen Campbell was no overnight sensation though, he was already a seasoned veteran on the music scene by the time this was recorded. Prior to this he played in the Wrecking Crew, Hal Blaine's studio band. If you're not familiar with Blaine do a search & check out the unbelievable body of work that Hal and his all star lineup did, you'll be amazed.

I agree--I'm not a big Glen Campbell fan--I prefer Three Dog Night, esp. Chuck Negron, but I also like this song, and Galveston, too. |
